CPAP - for preventing Sleep apnea

   "יום מנוחה וקדושה לעמך נתת...
מנוחה שלמה שאתה רוצה בה".

Over the last decade the CPAP device has become a common method used to treat sleep apnea syndrome. Sleep apnea syndrome is characterized by pauses in breathing or instances of shallow or infrequent breathing during sleep and can cause headaches , fatigue, dizziness and heart disease. The CPAP device has an electric air compressor which feeds pressurized air into the lungs through the mouth and nose and powered by pressing an electric button .

So what do you do on Shabbat? There are devices were examined and approved by the Zomet Institute and to be used on Shabbat. Here are some of the guidelines:

  • There is a preference to simple devices that do not have control sensors.
  • All adjustments and preparations should be done before Shabbat, including activating ON.
  • If you need to use a water tank make sure to fill it up before Shabbat (for those who need) and do not add Shabbat.
  • The device should run on Shabbat with a Shabbat clock preset before Shabbat.
  • Cover display monitor, making it impossible to see the information contained there.
